“What’s the fastest way for someone to improve their inner game? Improve your outer game.”
- Richard Branson
“If you want to be more confident or effective, rather than relying on easily-defeated positive thinking and mental gymnastics, learn to run faster, lift more than your peers, or lose those last ten pounds. It’s measurable, it’s clear, you can’t lie to yourself. It therefore works.”
- Tim Ferriss – The Four Hour Body
For the next 3 months, in a bid to improve my “inner game” and help me achieve more in my entrepreneurial endeavours, I’m committing to a healthy eating plan and training regime.
The Plan:
I’ll start by kicking things off with a 3 week detox – raw fruit and veg only – in a bid to cleanse my system of all the toxins and krap I’ve poisoned myself with over time. As well as helping to shed a few lbs, this should also help improve the condition of my skin which’d be great.
This’ll be followed by 9 weeks on the slow-carb diet (a la Tim Ferriss) in a bid to carry on shedding the lbs, and get back in to half decent shape.
Training wise I’ll kick things off by getting back into running and the gym. Although Cardio isn’t really that great for trying to lose weight (there are more effective alternatives out there), I’d like to improve my actual fitness as well and I’ve set myself the challenge of running 5km within 25 minutes within 6 weeks time (mid April), and 10km within 50 minutes by the end of July.
In addition, I’ll be spending the first 3 weeks of the detox, doing some kettlebell swings twice a week, and then once I get back onto eating protein on the slow carb diet, I’ll also be incorporating 5×5 strength training in the gym.
Although it’ll be difficult, it will still be a pretty good few weeks, and should help me achieve better results in many different areas in my life (including entrepreneurialism) – so bring it on!
